Viewing planned time
Weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
The colors of the days on the timeline differentiate workdays (light gray), weekends (darker gray), and public holidays (pink), as indicated in the following image:
Plans
The issue boxes that are displayed on the timeline are called plans and indicate which issues are planned for which team members and for how many days.
Plans for individual team members
The team member rows display the time that is planned for each team member. The number of planned hours is displayed at the right end of each plan and is calculated based on the team member's availability to work on the team.
Plans for the whole team
The top row of the timeline is the team row. Any plan in the team row is a plan for the whole team. Team plans are copied to the rows of all team members except where they conflict with plans for individual team members. Plans for individual team members take precedence over copies of team plans in occupying team members' available time. You can show or hide copies of team plans.
Repeated plans
A plan might be repeated weekly, every two weeks, or monthly.
Plans from other teams
If team members are in more than one team, the plans that were created for them on the timelines of their other teams are also displayed. You can show or hide plans that are from other teams.
Background color of plans
The following image shows how plans can have white, gray, or light blue-gray backgrounds. Also, the background color can be solid or semi-transparent. The table beneath the image indicates which kinds of plans have which background colors.
Background color | Type of plan | Location | Repeated instance | Created in |
---|---|---|---|---|
Solid white | Team plan | in the team row | No | This team |
Team member plan | in a team member row | This team or another team | ||
Solid gray | Team plan | in the team row | Yes | This team |
Team member plan | in a team member row | |||
Solid light blue-gray | Copy of a team plan | in a team member row | Yes or no | This team |
Semi-transparent gray | Team member plan |
| Yes | Another team |
Copy of a team plan | Yes or no |
Too much time is planned
If a thin red line is displayed at the top of a row, more time is planned for the team member than the number of working hours in the day. You can click the red line to view the percentage of the working day that is planned for the team member. Team leads and other users with Plan Time permission can edit the planned time.
Color-coded issue keys
By default, issue keys are colored orange. However, a user with JIRA Administer Projects permission might have configured project colors so that the issue keys are color-coded according to project.
