Creating project versions for your team

In JIRA Software or JIRA Agile, you can create project versions. You can also create project versions in Tempo Planner. Versions that you create in JIRA are displayed in Tempo Planner, and the other way round.

In Tempo Planner, you can create versions on the team projects timeline or on the program projects timeline.

Required permission

  • Browse Projects permission for the project
  • Administer Projects permission for the project
  • One of the following permission types:
    • JIRA Administrator permission
    • Browse Team permission for a team that is linked to the project

Procedure

To create a project version on the team projects timeline, complete the following steps:

  1. In the project row, click the start date of the version, and drag the mouse to the end date.

  2. In the Create Version window, fill in the requested information.

    FieldTip
    VersionThe name of the version that you want to create.
    DescriptionThe version description. This description is displayed on the version on the team backlog and on the version or release in JIRA.

        

  3. Click Save.
      
    A version is created on the team projects timeline.

Tips

  • You can move and resize versions on the team projects timeline and on the program projects timeline.
  • You can add issues to and manage versions on the team backlog and in JIRA.
  • You can give issues from a version to a team and assign the issues to team members on the team board.
