The following guide includes updates to Quick Filters and Quick Groups which are currently only available through our Early Access Program (EAP). If you are interested in participating in our Early Accessp Program, please contact Tempo Support.

Quick Groups allow you to reorganize your issues with the click of a button. This allows you to quickly focus on specific business cases and see aggregate results from your data. You can group issues by most Jira fields, including custom fields.

Structure with a Quick Group by project applied

Unlike Group Generators, Quick Groups make temporary, local adjustment to the structure, without changing it for everyone else. If someone opens the same structure while you have a filter applied, they will still see the original structure.

Drag and Drop is not available between Quick Groups.

Adding a Quick Group to a Structure

There are two ways to add a quick group to a Structure:

Add an Existing Quick Group

To apply an existing Quick Group to a structure, open the Saved dropdown and select the Quick Group you want to use.

Applying a saved quick group

Create a New Quick Group

To create a new Quick Group, click the Quick Group icon and select the field you want to group by.

Creating a new quick group

To customize the grouping level or consider other groups, before you select the field, select Advanced Settings.

Quick Group advanced settings
  • Name - This is the name that will be displayed on the Quick Transformations panel.

  • Field - Select the field you want to group issues by.

  • Consider other groups - By default, items created by another Group will be skipped unless this option is selected.

  • Group on level - Select which level within the hierarchy should be grouped.

Once you've configured the Quick Group, click Done. If you have Control permission for the structure, you can also add the new Quick Group to the Saved list by selecting Save Group.

You can edit these settings after a Quick Group has been created. See Editing a Quick Group

Quick Transformations are created for the current structure only. If you change to another structure, it may have different Quick Transformations available. If you reopen a structure where you've previously created Quick Transformations, they will still be available (provided no one else has deleted them).

Saved vs Unsaved

When you create a new Quick Group, it is a temporary Quick Group that is only available to you and will disappear the moment it's closed.

If you have Control permission for the structure, you can also save Quick Groups for later use and to share with others. See Saving a Quick Group below.

Saving a Quick Group

You can save Quick Groups to use again later. Once it’s saved, you can deactivate the group and find it later in the Saved list.

To add a new Quick Group to the Saved list, click the Quick Group’s name and select Save group.

Saving a Quick Group

You must have Control access for a structure to save a Quick Group or edit a saved Quick Group.

Grouping Order

Groups that affect the same levels are applied in the order they appear on the Quick Transformations panel.

Grouping order

To change this order, select a Quick Group and drag it to a new location.

If Quick Groups are configured for different levels, the order they're applied won't matter.
