To log work for a period of time, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Log Work dialog by clicking the Log Work button.
The keyboard shortcut key is w, e.g. simply press the w on the keyboard and the dialog opens.
  2. Select for example the Issue option on the left sidebar (this is possible for any option) in the dialog.
The last option that was used, is selected by default.
  3. Start writing in the field or choose an Issue from the drop-down (shows maximum 20) to log work on.
The time-tracking status for the issue is displayed for information purposes, e.g. how many hours have been Logged and what the Original estimate was.
  4. Tick the Period box and an End date field for the time period is displayed.
The first day and the last day are both included in the worklog list for the selected period. If your selected period expands more than one period and at least one of which is closed, you will receive a message.
  5. Select a new Date and End date if you are logging work on another date than is currently chosen.
  6. Fill a number into the field Work per day for the hours worked on the issue.
The behaviour of the Remaining estimate depends on the setting Remaining estimate is optional in Tempo /wiki/spaces/TEMPO/pages/365199617. If enabled and an issue has no Original estimate, the Remaining estimate is not calculated. Again if enabled and an issue has Original estimate, the Remaining estimate is reduced by the time spent until the value 0 is reached. The Remaining estimate can not be a negative number, but if it has reached 0, the user can add Remaining estimate.
  7. Write a brief work description in the Description field. This text will apply to all worklogs in the selected period.
The description can be optional, if Worklog description is optional is enabled in Tempo /wiki/spaces/TEMPO/pages/365199617.
  8. Click the Log Work button if you are done logging work or Cancel to close without saving. You can also continue to log a bulk of work, by ticking the Log another box before you click the Log Work button, but this means that the dialog stays open to do a new worklog entry.
